[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Few days ago I posted on TN a photo and a story named "Attack". Is the story of the permanent fight between the predators and the prey. It was a story with happy end for the young European ground squirrel.
Yesterday, in an other place, I saw an other E. ground squirrel who was not so lucky. It was caught by a Falco tinnunculus - the kestrel - and eaten 50%. It is the destiny of this species to be eaten by a lot of predators - snakes, foxes, all the prey birds, jackals and others...
I used Canon 30 D + Canon EF 400 F5.6L USM + TC Tamron 1.4, shutter priority 1/1250 s; f5,6; 320 ISO.

Dan,

You picked the right title for this shot. The shape of the wings is incredible. You captured this bird from the right angle. The POV is excellent.
Occasions such as this one are always a thrill to witness. They might not be all fun for the victim but in the end, this is nature. It doesn't alway have a happy ending. Your picture shows exactly that. Great work.

Best Regards,

Martin

Hello Dan,
Great capture of this natural scene. The kestrels play an important role in the natural ecological system.
The photo is well composed, with a good sharpness and a good light on the wings. Well done!
Catherine

Hello Dan,
Great action photo. Excellent timing. This weekend a Kestrel caught a bird in my garden. But that is nature. Fantastic composition and pose. Good sharpness, details and colours.
