[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Another shot from yesterday mornings outing to the river Stour in Wimborne. It took a while for me to find something i could actually get to, but eventually came across this fella warming up in the early sun. I was suprised how close i was able to get to it.
I've tried to find the exact type of Damselfly this is but have had no luck, so if anyone knows i'd really appreciate an ID if possible, thanks!

From the British Dragonfly Society's website:

Damselflies are insects in the sub-order Zygoptera (meaning "paired-wings"). All four wings are near enough equal in size and shape. They are usually small, weakly flying insects that stay close to the water margins or water surface.
When at rest, most species hold their wings along the length of their abdomen. The Emerald Damselflies are an exception and usually hold their wings partly open when at rest. They are therefore known as Spreadwings in North America. The eyes are always separated, never touching. The larvae have external plates (lamellae) at the end of the abdomen, which act as accessory gills.

Great macro shot - you can tell Horia was with you - excellent POV plus nice colour and excellent detail. Well observed and captured.

We have the same thing in mind again tonightapart from you went for Brown and I went for Blue. Lovely shot that is well positioned. Top colouration gives an all round warm feeling.

Excellent shot of this Damselfly!
I think it's a dark coloured female Large Red Damselfly.
Really well composed and a great POV.
Very sharp and crisp.
I love the blurred BG too.

I still do not understand all of the sub species of the dragonfly and damsel etc....and I'm glad you're around to do images that I for sure cannot...Good notations...fine photo..What more can a fella ask for...
