| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Common or European Centaury (Centaurium erythraea) is a member of the Gentian family. It is found through Europe, western Asia and northern Africa. It's also been introduced to North America.
It is a biennial species. In the UK it can be found on waste ground, heaths, chalk downland and areas of short, cropped grass. The rose pink buds open to into the paler pink, starry flowers. It has uses in traditional medicine, primarily in relieving various stomach disorders - taken as a tea it promotes appetite and stimulates the digestive system.
Howard (gerbilratz) posted a fine macro of the tiny buds of this flower yesterday

Belle présentation de cette "petite centaurée commune" (nom vernaculaire français) au travers d'une macro bien composée.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.
