MOTH

This very tiny moth, ca 10-15mm was posed on a Knautia which made me see it because of the colour-contrast. I had to put on my glasses to see its shape more distinctly and it was quite surprinsing to see the wings all wrinkled. I suppose it was a very "fresh" and young moth, but unfortunately I couldn't identify it.

Hallo Anne!

Markus

Hello Anne,

What an interesting photo with this young moth. Very good DOF keeping in focus most of insect's body. You rendered amaisingly well the details of antenae, head and wings.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Hello Anne,
Of course it is very difficult to ID a moth when the wings are crippled owing to not being able to expand them with fluid after emergence from the pupal case.
The feathery antennae suggest that this is the male of a species of Geometer moth. This is a fine sharp and well exposed capture well seen on the lilac flower.
Thanks for sharing this mystery,
Best regards, Ivan

The antennae really make the difference. The patterns in and about match the violet flora well...an awfully unusual looking creature it is...almost as though we should turn our eyes because it was poor and malformed...a continuing natural mystery...
Bob

Hallo Anne
This is real good close-up. Stunning capture of all the fine detail of this dainty moth. Pleasant light and lovely lilac background which emphasize this insects beautiful details, especially the big eyes and the antennas. Thanks for sharing this lovely creature, it is indeed something very special.
Kind regards
Anna

Bonsoir Anne,

Très bonne capture de ce papillon de nuit déployant juste ses ailes. Il semble que même ses antennes ne sont pas tout à fait droites. Excellent focus. Très bonne luminosité et superbes couleurs.
Bonne soirée,
Mariki

The antennae in particular of this Moth are remarkable, Anne.
From your perspective, the rest of the moth is also in good focus with good details and colours.

Hi Anne

A splendid macro of this interesting moth here from you.
I really like how you focused exactly on the most attractive parts - those big antennae - and how sharply and well they are rendered here.
The upper POV is great and allows a BG made out of almost only the beautiful flower.
Perhaps just a very little bit underexposed, but even so, a lovely shot.

Bravo and TFS
Horia

Ciao Anne,
splendida cattura di questa piccola falena, eccellenti POV e composizione che mostrano le belle antenne e la particolarità delle ali, molto bello il contrasto di colori creato dal fiore, ottima nitidezza.
TFS. Maurizio
