Hi all!

Flysch is a loanword from German and designs different sedimantary rocks. The term was introduced in geologic literature by Swiss geologist Bernhard Studer in 1827 for the typical alternations of sandstone and shale in the Prealps. Today we know that flysch is a deep marine sediment typical for a particular plate tectonic setting.

The bed of my favourite river Ärgera (Kanton of Freiburg) is mainly made of Flysch. During the last weeks, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms brought down hughe masses of rocks, stones and earth and freed new Flysch surfaces that were hidden before. That's how I found a wonderful series of natural drawings with the typical colours of Flysch. I felt like presenting you one of these "drawings".

Kind regards

Markus

CORRECTION: Dietrich Meyer (Meyerd) has informed me the "Flysch" is not a German, but a Swiss-German word...

Ciao Markus,

Hi Markus

Another splendid abstract shot from you, my friend!
Very nice presentation of the history of this type of rock and a great example of the natural painting that it presents.
The colors are indeed amazing and the fluid shapes they take are simply gorgeous. I have no doubt that such an element in nature captures one's eyes right away.
Great work!

Bravo and TFS

Hallo Markus,
Anne

Reminds me a little of the paitings discovered at Lascaux in France. Well framed as always, good use of the light and great detail too.

Hi Markus,
Those terra colors are a real beauty. They present warmth and tranquility. The texture and the lines in the photo are wonderful, and your eye to compose these types of photos is magnificent. I first thought: "why did he include the small ridge in the bottom?" But later realized that it gave the photo some depth and live.
TFS,
Niek

Hello Markus,
I presume you are back to sound health, and God be thanked for it.
I have observed colour patterns in rocks in the Himalayan region too, but this one you have captured in your country is simply amazing.
You have chosen the segment of the rock with a keen eye for composition.
Thanks for sharing it and best regards.

Hi Markus!

Beauty lays in details again...
Maybe just a pattern of many in nature but very very good to look at for minutes! TFS

Best regards,
Andor

I always enjoy your simple abstract compositions. There are nice details and colors. Your note is interesting too.

Lieber Markus,

What interesting patterns and pretty colours the Flysch are, Markus.
So now you can explore some new surfaces that were hidden to you before.
At first I thought it was a tree trunk.
Well seen and displayed

Hello Markus,
a great design of nature. The art that no one can ever paint.
Just thinking of some of the marble tiles that do have such natural beauty.
A Unique one.

Foozi
