Hello Jaap,

The light reflections of light on insect's wings have been captured with very great skill. The allover light is very well used showing very natural looking colors on the insects and the plants arround. Main subject is sharply shown against the blurry background.

This is a most interesting post!
An excellent macro and shot, with terrific details and beautiful natural colors, but most of all the subject is rather intersting: it's two males that seem to have a mating position here.
I think it actually it a dominance behaviuour here which makes this a very valuable post...i haven't seen to many.
So thanks for this esquisite shot that has brought some interesting question to my mind...i'll hit the books :)

This is a wonderful capture with both insects perfectly focused. Colors and exposure are natural in excellent composition and nice brilliance on their superb wings. Even if they are the same tones of colors as their environment, they stand out very well from the blurred background. Well seen!

Two beautiful Calopteryx males in tandem, well, a rare sight indeed Jaap, the poor guy in the rear looks as if he doesn't know what to do with his abdominal clasper! Natural or not, this is pure nature indeed! TFS this beautiful and interesting image my friend.

Hi Jaap

In fact it has been quite a while since I last critiqued one of your lovelies and it is good to do so once again.

This is a very interesting shot, well spotted and captured. If I tilt my head slightly to the left and look at these damselflies, then it seems like their bodies actually forms the shape of a heart. Maybe it is only the "romantic" insects that made me see this or who knows, maybe they are sending out a message of love to the entire TrekNature community(?) Although I must admit, the fact that it is two males had me wondering…maybe they are just good friends spending "quality" time together (chuckle).

I've been chasing those pretty and very wary Calopteryx splendens damselflies right at the same time in the end of June at Vienna riverbanks, wading in the waters and getting soaked all over. They are so beautiful, and so hard to capture. My congratulations!
