I would have loved to see scenes like this whilst on our Kruger vacation. We also saw one of these at the same spot in the water, but just to far to get a decent shot. I envy you for this image as one can see well known features and detail like the longish pink paws and the sharp black, thin beak so well. I am also thrilled to see detail of the speckled eggs with such great clarity and also in there natural enviroment. Thanks for sharing this beautiful image. Best regards.

I am alwas careful with placing of nest and breedingpictures.
People that don't many interest or know how from nature that also do it and disturb the animals.

Hi Ulla

This is a wonderfully intimate moment you've captured of these beautiful little birds showing some shared responsibility while they are tending their eggs.

What is really interesting to note is the structure and positioning of the nest and how the eggs blends through the camouflaged markings. It's a pity that the lighting conditions weren't more favourable to bring out the lovely colours of these birds, but you've managed it well so the details are nice and sharp and the composition came out very well.

We've seen these birds on a number of occasions during our recent Kruger trip, but not once were we close enough to capture this kind of detail.

It's so touching to see these busy birds around the nest with the beautiful sprinkled eggs. Nice to see that the male is doing his part too! (Sometimes I wish that the ones I have at home would do some more :-))
