[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In the middle of this scanned picture is a land crab, and the surrounding shows the holes they dig, and where they live. They love to eat coconuts and climb (!) up in the high palm trees to cut them down with their one, very big clow. Picture taken at Bora-Bora, an island in the Iles de la societe, Polynesie francaise. Picture taken through a bus window; it is not easy taking pics of land crabs, as they run down to their holes, if you come close. Scanned from a neg pic and I know the quality is not good. Just wanted to show an interesting animal - a crab living on land and climbing in palm trees!

This photo just seems a bit bland. Its a mess of sticks, dirt, holes, and grass, there is no clear subject, nor is it the kind of thing that I'd want to investigate more. Part of the problem i'm sure is the poor quality scan, it looks hazy and unsharp. Next time, think about what you are trying to portray, whether it is the animal, its habitat or some combination. Get low, think about a different angle, or wait to catch some behavior. If you have to point out the subject to the viewer then right away you should know you have a problem. Oh, and of course, crabs aren't amphibians.

Its a crustacean. I understand the intention of including crab holes in the photo. However this might have been better achieved from a different angle. I enhanced the image a little in my workshop.
