[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Winter tide, from Saint Quay Portrieux, in february. At the horizon you can see Harbour Island. The lighthouse on Harbour island was build in 1850 and it's still active. It was a square cylindrical masonry tower rising from the front of a 2-story masonry keeper's house as you can see here. Lantern was removed and nowadays the light is displayed from a short mast atop the watch room. A closer view can be seen on Trek Earth. There is also an East mark that indicates to sailors to use safe water on the east side of the buoy and to leave the buoy on the west. You can recognize the east cardinal from the 3 others cardinals buoys by both the black and yellow colors and by the arrows on its top as explained on this canadian website.

I really like the action in this picture. Although the colors are soft, and the lighting is a bit dull, the choppy currents in the water combined with the violent wave crashing on the rocks make for a very interesting shot. I don't like the frame for the picture... too light for my taste, and I don't like the shadow behind it.
