[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a young harbor seal that was hosted in the oceanopolis in Brest. Night was falling so I had to boost ISO. The pool was lighted with some green-white lights so I removed a bit of green and adjusted white balance. The seal was playing with a stone.

Seals are pinnipeds. Pinnipeds are divided into two categories: earless seals (true seals) and eared seals (sea lions). You can easely see on the picture why they are called earless seals. The most distinguished feature of the seal is the flipper. They have short foreflippers. For a seal to move across dry land, it must balance its weight on to the fore flippers and crawl along using their bellies. Sea lions’ front flippers are much bigger and have an articulation. The sea lion can put weight on it. Their hind flippers can rotate forward and beneath the body. Both features enables sea lions to move around on land with ease, unlike the seal.
