Both flowers and berries can be made into wine, and in Hungary an elderberry brandy is produced. In Australia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovenia the flowers are made into a syrup or cordial, which is diluted with water before drinking. The berries are best not eaten raw as they are mildly poisonous, causing vomiting.
ps notice the fine strand of a spiders web. This was taken on my misty morning walk. |

Bellos colores los de estos frutos, precioso el contraste con el fondo.
Un saludo, Bev.

Hi Bev,
Nice sharp image, visibility of the strand of spider web on the berries indicates sharpness of this image. Great vivid colors. Excellent shot.

Hello Bev,
A well framed close-up with good details!
I like the composition, and the colours are pleasing...

'Allo, 'allo Bev...
This photo reminded me immediately of the hilarious program
"Last of the summer wine"...
Beautiful close-up, with great detail that even shows us spider silk with tiny tiny mist- or dew- drops! Amazing!
Btw NorthAmercian robins don't seem bothered by the poisenous berries... We have even heard that late in the season they get slightly drunk!
Tfs a great shot! J.
PS Themed...
