An Another Spider [in Turk. Örümcek]

Dear Friends, I would like to dedicate this capture of an interesting and beautifull spider to one of my beloved and heartfelt friends in TN, Marie Christine Guegan (mariki) who is an admirer of flies, bees and also spiders and also an expert on photographing them. I wish you all the best my beloved friend Marie!

I observed this spider (I think that it is a crab spider but I am not sure) in Golden Beach, indeed a turtle conservation side of Karpas National Park (N Cyprus). I have to state that although I have conducted so many trips to Cyprus, I have not seen such spider species before! Its body length of the spider is approx. 2 cm. Around the environment there are plenty Juniperus sp. tree and the ground structure is mainly sandy as you can see in my capture. I hope that one of friends who is may be an expert on spider identification would be help on its ID. I would be indebted!
Thanks!

Bayram

Hi Bayram!
This is a very nice capture of perfectly camouflaged spider (I believe some species from Lycosidae family). Very nice, sharp details and POV.
I also think that Marie will be happy when she see that this picture is dedicated for her :)
All the best!
Radek

Nefis bir makro hocam. Kumda neredeyse hiç farkedilemiyecek derecede kamuflajı fazla olan bir örümcek. Kum taneciklerindeki netlik de harika. Elinize sağlık.
Mehmet

hacı, iyi alıştın örümcek işine. güzel çekim olmuş. araziden yeni döndüğümden bütün çekimlerini henüz görmediysem de bir kısmını ziyaret ettim. eline sağlık, selamlar.

Hi Bayram,

For a small spider this one has so many shadings and patterns. I must admit that except for the tarantulas I've seen I have never looked closely at spiders. They all looked the same to me. Thanks to your posts I am learning.

Jane

Hi Bayram

ANothe highly skillful posting - great POV and excellent detail showing this spider in its natural habitat.

James

Hello Bayram,

Thank you very much for this dedication. Fortunately, I am not an expert :-), otherwise I will not have anything more to learn. Very good POV, DOF and sharpness. 2 cm that is already a very big spider for me. Great capture, Bayram.
Regards,
Mariki

Very nice macro of this large spider Bayram. I like your depth of field here, making both the spider and the sand stand out. You've cropped this and positioned the spider well in the frame.

Thanks, John

Hello Bayram,
Superb macro of a spider, that shows sharply and well despite the camouflaging colours against the sandy BG and from a great POV.
I would image that the thousands of tourists enjoying Golden Beach would not like to meet this guy!
Excellent dedication to our friend Mariki and thanks for sharing this 'beauty'!
Best wishes my friend,
Ivan

Hola Bayram,
Nice to see a fine looking spider specimen with all eight legs intact! Surely someone will ID it shortly, and our mutual friend, Marie Christine will love your kind dedication.
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hi Bayram,

Merhaba Hocam,
Harika bir örümcek makrosu daha, elinize sağlık. Gerçekten de kamuflajı çok iyi. Teşekkürler!

Hi Bayram,
Wonderful shot of this huge spider and you have a skillfully chosen POV to portray its features so clearly. Seems to be camouflaged well with the surrounding. Very neat and sharp image. Should have made our friend marie happy for the dedication. Very nice composition. Kudos.

Hello Bayram,
Never seen before, Bayram.
It is beauty.
Well done

Hi again, Bayram,
this nice and big spider could well be a Heteropodidae (Giant crab spiders). Eusparassus walckenaeri is somewhat bigger than your specimen (25-30 mm), but similar otherwise. Olios argelasius would be less mottled. But both species occur in Cyprus. There are also Heteropoda sp. brought from the tropics to be considered. To know more you will need D. Jones, 1990. Guide des araignées et des opilions d'Europe. Delachaux & Niestlé, Paris (which I don't have).
Best regards
Dietrich

Hi Uncle, I like the excellent wonderful sharp details you captured of this spider... tfs... Merih
