A global warming singing in Cyprus

Although this time is a spring time the water sources of Cyprus still not enough to complete hot summer period! No falling of rain in winter period! You can see in this picture the Gecitkoy (Panagra) Lakelet! indicating that a summer period would be pass hardly in Cyprus!

This is indicate that GW would be affect the Cyprus!
In this lakelet we are searching the frog (Rana bedriagae) population size and other dynamics with our supervisor, Prof. Bayram Göçmen (boreocypriensis). Our obtained data indicate a declining the population as well as water birds.

Greetings from Cyprus!

Mehmet

Hi Mehmet,

What a wonderfully composed picture showing the effects of the drought in Cyprus. Judging from this scene Cyprus must be a beautiful place. Excellent colors and depth in this shot. This is a familiar sight to me. Several years ago I saw the same thing at a reservoir in the Colorado Rockies. I have lived in Tucson for more than ten years and have never seen a drop of water on our river. I look forward to more posts of your trip.

Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Hello Mehmet,

Very nice well-composed picture. Excellent POV and DOF. Very nice light and colours. Drought in some areas and too much rain in others. That is a disaster for some species, and certainly in the islands.
Cheers,
Mariki

Hi Mehmet,
Yes it is clearly visible from this scenery of yours. A well captured image and it tells how hot it is there. Hope some rain soon. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hello Mehmet,
interesting shot and you choose a very good advantage point to capture the receding water level.
One really gets a good look on the effect the dry spell has on the area.

Selam Mehmet Abi,
Bu resimden herşey ortada. Way Kıbrıs'ın haline. Eline sağlık.
Görüşmek üzere.

Selam Hocam,

Merhaba Mehmet,
Selam!!
This is truly a beautiful landscape on the lake, and I sure think that the GW really effecting this area as I noticed the water laver is quite low!
but the scenery is absolutely beautiful with it's environment!
many thanks for the sharing
greeting from NZ

Hello Mehmet,
Thank you very much for your kind words on my recent picture.
Your picture of the shrunk lake is a sure sign of GW hitting everywhere including Cyprus.
This summer I will try to go up into the Himalayas to photograph some shrinking glaciers and share the pictures here on TN in case I make it.
The picture you have shown here indicates that the hillsides on the other side of the lakelet are dry and parched without the winter rains.
The monsoons in our country are also behaving erratically for quite sometime.
Thanks for your insightful note with the image.

Hello Mehmet,
I'm very sorry to see and hear about the drought on Cyprus! We have plenty of water in Sweden and I wish we could send you some although it's been unusually dry and warm here in the south too lately. The drought is very well captured here, it's also interesting to see where you've been searching for frogs.
Many thanks and regards, Ulla

Hi Mehmet,
Wonderful shot of this dwindling lake and the surrounding mountains. Very good documentary shot and you portray the global warming phenomenon and its repurcussions well. Very neat and sharp image with clear details and nice colours. Excellent POV and composition. Kudos.

Hello Mehmet!
First of all - the title of presentation was very interesting for me, and that is the first reason why I decided to see this picture. Global warming is a very huge problem, I really saw the effects of this process when I was on Spitsbergen...
Anyway, the picture is really nice, and as for me it is a perfect habitat for my favourite insect group - tiger beetles :)
Water, sand, sandy place - nothing more is necesary for this creatures :)
Anyway, it is not funny to read about Rana species and water birds. I really hope that finally human will start take care about the world and smaller creatures...
Best greetings from Poland!
Radomir

It is always sad to read something like that yet it is reality. I am also impressed by the work of so many people, beginning to take care of life and nature on this planet. Congratulations for a stunning picture, its sad reality, and the undertakings you and other people pursue. Thank you!

Merhaba Mehmet Bey,

Hello Mehmet, this is a good post because it makes us think. This picture here, with an understanding of what is expected is a very good argument of the case of global warming. We are seeing examples of these issues all over the world now, it is not just a local or temporary phenomenon.

Thanks, John

Hallo Mehmet
This week time is critical; however...............................This is a great image, filled with lots of nature and lots of detail to appreciate. I like the view from the top in which you have captured this lovely landscape. Interesting layers of greenery on the other side of the lake, and the ripples in the water is quite clear even from a distance. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards.
Anna

Hello Mehmet. Beautiful view looking down the lake. Nice lighting and pleasant perspective. Well done and best regards. Jusni

Hello Mehmet,
This is a document to tell us that we have to be very cautious with our environment, these are just the first signs of change. But if people don't want to reduce their energy use, I just see no way out of problems.
The picture has been taken from an excellent point of view.
Bonne journée

Hi Memhet,
very interesting...a lesson on how ecological balance can be affected when elements of natures are in conflict with each other..excellent PoV and DoF and superb theme.
Very well done.

Dear Mehmet,
Execllent landscape from Cyprus. Hope we could contain global warming.

Hi Mehmet
Magnificent composition from Cyprus. We have this problem in many countries, the lack of water.
Excellent POV and details
Greetings
Aires

Hi Mehmet,
Nice shot showing the effect of drought there in your area..
The lake looks nearly gone..
Thanks for the information on what I'm looking at, and what you guys are up to :)

Mehmet,
A WONDERFUL capture of a "receding" lake, now a lakelet.
Unfortunately, global warming is a FACT.
We, mankind, are far too STUPID to "see" that we are killing our mother home .... THE ONLY HOME WE HAVE.
GREAT IMAGE. GREAT MESSAGE.
Warm greetings from COLD COLD Canada.
Mario.

A nice thought and a lovely shot, Mehmet!

Hello Mehmet !
What a wonderful picture ! This lake looks beautiful, even if he would be even more beautiful with more water. What you write in your note is very alarming, and very sad, but unfortunately it is happenning more and more often. We are completely destroying our planet. It's good to take some pictures, as long as it is still there...
Vary well done !
Valerie.

Hi Mehmet bey,
Wonderful landscape, I mean the composition's great, a pity that the photo got a little overexposion. GW is very sad, as we can see it here. It also effects other territories: for example on the winter of 2006/2007 there wasn't any snow here in Hungary at all, which never ever happened before.
Tfs the pic and the interesting note, greetings from Hungary, László

Hello Mehmet,

Hello Mehmet

An excellent POV for this posting to show the basin and the area naturally flooded with water.
This man made problem is going to need a man made solution and unfortunately many politicians refuse to accept the science.
Thanks for sharing the story and the image .

Hello Mehmet

Thanks for the interesting and very informative post! It is certainly a time of evident changes in global weather patterns and consequently on the Earth's biodiversity. Too many implications to discuss here, but hope we humans can do something very quickly to reverse global warming and its inevitable ill-effects such as severe weather and species extinctions.

Best
Ravi

I Think many such beauties are now in death row. Splendid capture of the draught.
