We do have Kestrel here in Washington State. I have seen them as well. The US put them on a postage stamp for a bit. An interesting bird. I was not aware of their connection to the falcons. You are truly the expert on such things...well among thee ones who know let me say...and this image of course shows him after a workout and before his preening:-) Nicely done Ivan! Who said you were terrible...achh..old legends.

Well composed frame, perfect color and exposure.
Excellent focusing with very sharp detail, and I like the POV from slightly below..
It always seems to give the subject an improved stature, more stately if you will :)

Fantastic photo of this falcon. Are you absolutely sure that this is not a falco naumanni (rödfalk)? I think the chin is quite evenly grey without the prominent black tear and to me the spots on the breast are quite small and not that dense.... How did it look at the back?

We saw one of them on Isle de marguerite outside of Cannes earlier this year.

However this is incredible good with amazing details, a very good pose and that nice reflection in the eye.

Hi Ivan. We had a bit of sun today and then back to rain and forcast for all day sunday.
This is a very clear well detail shot of the Kestrel. good natural colours . i like the side pose ofthe head giving good light in the eye. well done TFS. good notes too.

But with fine images like this in the files there is no problem... Good details in the plumage and attractive colours!

I miised this picture, Ivan, so it feels good to go back to it and admire it for its lively portrayal of a Kestrel.
The frontal view gives a very good impression of this bird you shot in Cyprus.
The lovely blue sky at this time of the year must have filled you with nostalgia for your summer trip.
