The Greek goddess Aphrodite was born on Cyprus. Or actually, she was born from the foam of the sea around this rock, on the beach close to Pafos.

In ancient times, lots of people came here to join in the fertility rituals here and at the nearby temple. In Greek, the rock is called Petra tou Romiou.

Belle composition Stephen!

Hi Steven!
Very nice picture, but I miss something ;-) Where is this big shell from legend and where is naked Aphrodite ;-))) ? You didn't seek her enough ;-) Lovely seascape, I like moment with wave breaking with rock and great stones on beach.
