Laudakia stellio cypriaca (Hardun) #3

Detailed information on this species was given in my one of previous postings.

L. s. cypriaca It is characterized mainly by its long tail [Tail length reported on the snout-vent distance (SVL) ranges from 1.53-1.92, averaging 1.73. In other subspecies, this relation rarely exceeds 1.6.]. Finger and toes are long [19-22 subdigital scales under the 3rd finger, 22-28 under 4th toe]. In the dorsal scale arrangement, Cypriotic Spiny lizard resembles the nominotypic form. The small scales of the chin, especially in the region of the gular fold, are strongly spinose and in elder specimens there is a redish coloration on both head and body. Turkish Cypriotes are called this beautiful lizard as “Gurkuda” and it is present in everywhere in Cyprus with a high abundance.

The name of the genus stemming from a Latin word: “Laudatus”: praiseworthy, excellent or good in its kind.

another great shot of this Spiny Lizard.
Though not as sharp as the other ones this is still very detailed.
Great composition and POV.
Excellent timing to capture it with it's mouth open!

Bayram Hocam her fotoğrafınızda olduğu gibi Laudakia'nın en güzel pozlarını ve makrolarını en nefis halleriyle gördük. WS yi daha çok beğendim ama:) Elinize sağlık.

Good representation of a "Hardun" Bayram, still carries a lot of the characteristic details in spite of its being a scanned dia. Good composition my friend.

Noe we have seen 3 Laudakia speciel and all presentations with gret notes. There are some problems with sharpness here but I know that you wanted to show differences and similarities of Laudakia species. Your shot is nicely composed with good field guide POV

It's funny how we see things differently - this is my favorite of the shots of this lizard. I LOVE the workshop with the wonderful close-up of his face. This pose is marvelous with the opened mouth. Superb details and wonderful colors.

As for the scanned diapositive the picture looks really nice. I like low POV and details. On the other hand it would be nice to see entire body of this lizard ("the end" of it os cutted ;>). Also some more free space in front of reptile would be nice for composition :)

Very fine capture of a mature male Hardun, a species that has become familiar to us since our visit to Cyprus. I like the pose and POV and his colours show very well in this shot.

Hello Bayram,
Great to see a specimen of this fine Lizard again - it brings back memories of chasing them on the cliffs in Paphos where they were quite numerous. They seemed to vary a lot in size.
This is a fine capture of Hardun in a nice pose. Great details and fine colours too.
