[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As it is my policy on TN to post birds alternated with other flora or fauna, this time I’m posting a bird: or rather, part of a bird.

This is a male Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus), singing his heart out with his plodding chattering rhapsody. He tends to stay hidden but pops up occasionally to show himself in the defence of his territory, as he is doing here.

The Reed warbler is a common inhabitant of reed beds in most of Europe and Southern Scandinavia. It overwinters in tropical Africa.

This shot is the closest that I came to showing the whole bird: most of my attempts show vital parts of the warbler hidden by reeds. When it is hidden one can come as close as only about three meters.

This shot was taken at a distance of about 8 meters, the shot cropped by about 50%.
After size reduction, some of the noise was removed using Gaussian blur in the larger areas.

Hi Ivan

These are (in my experience) difficult birds to photograph. I live by a river and they are always in the reeds, I hear them nearly everytime I go outside. So very well done for getting an image - a great habitat/context shot.

James

Beautiful image Ivan.
A reed warbler in between reed, it just does'nt come better.
Wonderful to see how he is singing his morning song.
Excellent work. Thanks for sharing.
Best regards, Harry

Hello Ivan,
I really like this bird. whenever they sing, they really give their best. I was surprised to see the numbers of them in Poland, as they are really endangered in the Netherlands and once a common reed bird.
Not very colourful, but that's also the charm of the animal.
Regards, Jacob

Hi Ivan,
Wonderful shot of this singing warbler, sitting elegantly among the reeds. Immaculate sharpness and a neat focus. I like your POV to portray it in its natural habitat and the precise DOF. Very nicely composed. Kudos.

Hello Ivan,
A refreshing PoV to present the reed warbler.
The reeds alternating in their apperance hels the subject merge with the environ wonderully. The open beak make it very lively.
Well Done.
TFS & Cheers

Hi Ivan,
This was indeed a difficult shot because of all the reeds but you managed well.
Looks like he is enjoying his song.
Good composition, pose, light and colours.
tfs Paula

"Part of the bird" is good one, Ivan :-).
Since this bird is rather elusive, you have taken a great image of it while it popped out for a moment.
The compo with vertical reeds is very attractive, indeed.
TFS.

Belle photo de cet oiseau très beau avec un bec long et pointu, pour aller chercher sa nouriture, la nature fait vraiment bien les choses. Amitiés Thomas

Hi Ivan,
a very fine picture of rörsångaren, it's amazing that you
could get a clean shot, they usually hide deep in the reed.
Nice pose and POV. The sharpness and DOF is also good.
Well done.

Själv lyckades jag få några bilder på sävsångaren när
satt inne i vassen och sjöng, men jag lyckades inte så här bra.

Hello Ivan,
Singing bird among the reeds looks very lovely. Actually it is nice to see the bird among its habitat. It gives a very natural look. You might have waited patiently to get this shot, as from my experience I have found them extremely difficult to photograph. Thanks a lot for sharing this picture.

Hello Ivan,

Interesting picture of a so shy bird... Even if the tail and the body is somewhat hidden by those reeds, the head is very clear and free. The only thing that is maybe a little bit disturbing is the presence of the reed just in front of the beak... But sometimes (like here) you don't have choice...

TFS,

Michel

Excelente composición. Belleza del conjunto.
