Seas of Fertility -Paphos

Aphrodite was born of the sea foam near Paphos, Cyprus after Cronus cut off Uranus' genitals and threw them behind him into the sea and then went back to feast on them. Hesiod's Theogony described that the genitals "were carried over the sea a long time, and white foam arose from the immortal flesh; with it a girl grew" to become Aphrodite.

Great exposure work. I love the way the sea and sky are nearly monochrome, which puts the boulders into the viewer's eye nicely.

Hi Stephen,
The photograph and your poetical information go very well toguether.
There is a strange contrast of mood between this soft pink sky and misty water on one hand and the harsh shaped rock. just like this "blody" story... white foam and flesh...
Looks nevertheless peacefull and quiet now.
In fact there is an huge silence in this picture.
Of course also good composition.
well done and TFS

Hi Stephen!

A very misty image with unique color space, but very very simple in composition that I like very much! These properties go very well together and what I see there was a good idea and preparation in mind and a great technical finish that lead to this wonderful picture! TFS!

Best regards,
Andor

Hey Steve,
Excellent "atmosphere", the imagery is sublime..
The mythical story sounds like an erotic dream, with a subliminal freudian flair ;}
Very nice!

Hi Stephen

Nice to see some fresh posts from you here again, my friend!
A lovely work with what looks like a verrry long exposure here that gives this scene a splendid tranquil mood.
The warm colors and tones enhance the feeling of the shot while the composition is absolutely gorgeous!
Superb work!

Bravo and TFS
