Hi Don,

interesting long-exposure, showing the movement of the earth around its axis. Great, how Polaris is resting immobile. Could the two points (one directly below Polaris) be stationary satellites? For the faint line I suggest checking other pictures done with the same camera for the same.

Some passerine birds that migrate during the night (e.g. Silvia atricapilla) are known to sit quiet and study the movement of stars for a while (like you did with your camera) . While doing it they memorize star clusters that are moving little (because close to the rotation axis). They then use these clusters for orientation in flight!
