Taleqan
The resort area of Taleqan with its kind, hospitable, and cultured inhabitants is a stretch of land engulfed by Alborz Mountains, and Kandovan heights in the west reaching within 40 km east of Qazvin. The main river of this ancient land originates from the eastern foothills and travels approximately 105 km westward. This water stream carries some 15 large and small rivers in the region, which originate from brooks and melted snow, to the Spidroud River to join Qezel Ozan waters and go to the sea.
With a capacity of 420 million square meters, Taleqan Dam, constructed on the Shahroud River, is a turning point in the geographical history and ecology of the region and will produce large developments in the area.
Covering an area of around 1400 square kilometers, with latitude of 36°12' north and longitude and 50' east, Taleqan is located in northwest of Tehran. Taleqan has an average temperature of +9.5 degrees Celsius, with a maximum high of +27.6 and minimum of -11.2 and average raining of 500 millimeters.
Beautiful villages in southern and northern foothills of Taleqan are located 1400 to 2600 meters above the sea level along the rivers and springs. The language of people in Taleqan is Persian with Tati dialect. Taleqani people followed Zoroaster until around the 9th century AD, but converted to Islam later and generally believe in twelve Imams now. |
