Inflight shot like this is quite difficult to freeze while in action. Certainly you did a good spot to captured that moment.

Very good for a first post! Nice action, the bird looks like fighting against the snowfall. ISO1600 was a good choice here if you wanted the big dof, but you can switch to ISO800 and a greater aperture, if smaller dof is ok for you, while keeping high shutter speed. If you'd like to, you can try some cropping or adjusting some levels. Watch others' photos to see what's effective, or what fits your style for example! Welcome to TN!
