| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I've been here for 10 months and have spent the whole time looking at the river from a distance. Today, I got fed-up with being holed-up so I donned an armor vest, a couple of guns and set out alone to go find some Iraqi nature!
I was pleasantly suprised to find that the east bank of the Tigris River was relatively clean and rich in both plant and animal life.
In this shot, growing among the reeds and tall grasses in the mud at the water's edge, was a parasitic plant (vine) that bore these clumps of small flowers. Amazing considering the heat! If anyone knows what they may be, of if there are questions I can answer to discover what they might be, just let me know.

Glad you managed to find some life amongst the troubles. Ive no idea what it is, but a question you say it was parasitic, if it has green leaves it will only be a climbing plant . parasitic plants do not need to photosynthasis as they get all their food from the plant they are attached to / growing on.
The open flowers are a little over exposed and the DOF is a little shallow I think F4.5 - F5 would of been better. Thank you for sharring
