The Pomegranate Hairstreak (Deudorix livia) is an Afro-Tropical butterfly that distribute in the north Equator of Africa and Saudi Arabia. In the summer it migrant north to Israel, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. In the hot parts of Israel and Jordan (from Eilat/Aqaba to the Dead Sea) it can be found during all yaer.
The male has orange wings (as in this photo) while the female wings are brown-blue.
Wing span: 35-40 m"m. The male is much smallar than the female.
Host plants: pomegranate (Punica granatum), Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera) and other plants. |
