Gladiolus italicus

This is a tribute to my Italian TN friends. G. italicus (Iridaceae) is one of the two wild gladiolus species we have here in Israel. It is quite common in the Mediterranean areas in late spring. It is much smaller and more delicate than its cultivated cousins. I find it most beautiful, especially as you get closer to the flower, as in this photograph.
The flowers two to five per plant are about 40 to 50 mm in size. |

Très bon cliché, qui met bien en valeur les pièces florales : bons détails sur les étamines et les stigmates, importants pour la détermination. Les couleurs sont très belles.

Hi Ishi!
You present us a very beautiful picture, so delicate and held in wonderful colours. The composition suits the simplicity of the picture very well and the dark and blurred background highlights the flower at best.
