| Another Liliacea species, Allium neapolitanum, one of the 43 Allium species in Israel, is quite common here, adorning the Mediterranean landscape in the end of spring. It has a very efficient vegetative reproduction mechanism, which leads to formation of clusters of these plants growing to about 30 cm in height baring 10 to 25 flowers on each stem. One good identification sign for this species is the triangular cross-section of the stem. |
