[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
These are the three upper whorls (circles, about 5 cm in diameter) of dried calyxes of the flowers of Moluccella spinosa [Labiaceae], a rather rare flower, which quite often looks more impressive after it remains standing dry long after its spring-time (April-May) blooming season. Each dried calyx shows intricate lace-work and quite sharp thorns.

The picture was taken in the late afternoon, with the setting sun giving golden hues to the grey-white skeleton of the flower.

The strong wind made me use a high ISO setting to enable me use a very fast shutter speed with a large f-stop.

Hello Ishi,
The thumbnail doesn't do this justice!
This is an excellent macro of the post-flowering dried calyxes taken from a great POV to show the latice of veins and thorns with superb sharpness and lighting against a superb BG. No sign of high ISO settings here!
Excellent work and TFS!
Best wishes,
Ivan

Interesting looking plant, with spiny calyx. TFS, Michal.

Hello Ishi,
This spiky seedhead seems to tell you to stay well away! But you've managed to get a superb capture showing íts beautiful details and colours. I like the light and the background too.
