Ranunculus asiaticus (Turban Buttercup) is a common and protected flwoer in Israel. Almost all flowers are red (unlike the rest of the Mediterrnaena where white, pink and yellow forms occur). This is the progenitor for the cultivated forms that have fuller flowers. I found it very hard to get right this very bright red (in the film era it weas easier).

Hi Fragman, is very nice this flower. I never saw this kind of Ranunculus. I don't know the dimension of this flower, but it is like a Papaver r. as color and forme.

Hello Ori,

A very nice shot of this spectacular flower. I'm used to seeing yellow flowers on Ranunculus, so a red flower is very unusual to me.

I've found that red subjects can sometimes require turning the color saturation down in the camera to prevent losing detail. From what I can see, your photo turned out very nicely, an excellent job of recording the color.

Estupendo color y luz Ori, cualquiera diría que se trata de Papaver por su forma, color y textura jeje.

Really a beautiful buttercup with fine, waxy red petals Ori, ours around here are usually yellow, and you are right, some colour densities were easier to record on a Kodachrome or Agfachrome material.

En France, je ne connais que les Adonis ou les Anemone pour offir de telles couleurs. Nos Ranunculus sont toutes jaunes ou blanches. Magnifique restitution du rouge.
