I tried this with similar equipment but at my bird feeder in the garden. I know how difficult it is. I think you did great. The blurred wings adds to the effect. Very well done. I wish I could mine this good. :)

Hi Elroyie, this must be the female Stonechat? I can imagine the difficulties of getting this shot as I was able to watch one locally last autumn. Getting a shot using a teleconverter has got to make it even harder. I assume you used auto-focus cos you mention focus locking, is that right?

It's not as bad as you seem to think it is you know. You have caught a wonderful sense of movement, the shot is very dynamic and I love the one foot poised in the air. The exposure and DOF are also very well done and the composition is excellent.

Was it landing or taking off or trying to catch insects mid-air? I like it, nicely done :)

This is superb. Taking pictures of small birds in flight is the ultimate in bird photography for me. This is sharp and well composed. Excellent! TFS
