Stars Trails

First some technical details, this picture was taken with my film camera Canon EOS 33 and FujiChrome 100Provia, time of exposure was about 3.5 hours, the light on the rocks was from my car's lights, I used them for about 1-2 seconds to light the scene.
For this scene I needed complete darkness so I went to the unsettled area in the negev, our humble desert place :) , the tyming was important, it was important to take this picture before the moon will start to show up, for this data I need to thank my friend Eilia.

In this picture you can see the stars trails around the north star that almost 'stands still', the stars are making a complete circle in about 24 hours and by the arc you can tell the time of exposure.

This picture is the first (and the only in the meantime) of its kind that I ever taken, it is not like a digital picture, it is one picture for a specific night and then I needed to wait for the development...

I've seen many of these star trail photographs, but I must tell you that this is the most interesting one. The detail in your explanatory note is also ver informative. Wel done and thank you for sharing.

Very interesting photo. I saw many photos of this kind, but your is really special one - I like idea with flashing car lights. Negev Desert looks like great place, I hope I'll visit your country some day.

Hi Elroyie, What an interesting idea, and well carried out. You did need a lot of patience and how did you know exactly how long the car lights had to stay on? This is technicaly an exploit!

Very well managed and tecnically hard to achieve.
Nice use ofthe car's light.
I think it's quite impossible to get a picture like this with a digital camera because the battery get over soon.
The note is really usefull and I think I'll try to get a picture like this in the future.

Wow - this is stunning.

I love the different coloured light trails (blues, oranges and reds as well as white). Its the details like that that count and it has worked really well in this one.
