Many bulbs are predated by porcupines and other animals, often they survive pressed in rocks where thay cannot be digged out.
This sub-endemic species grows along the Rift Valley and adjascent areas. It is usually found dense between rocks or stones. The Genus Androcymbium is mainly African. It is closely related to Colchicum, belonging to the same family Colchicaceae. Both genera are characterized by 6 distinct nectaries at anthers bases.

Hello Ori,
How amazing to find such beautiful bulbous flowers in such a narrow crack between rocks.
Excellent capture, sharp and I like the colours of flowers and rocks. Interesting note too.

Une espèce bien attachante... Les fleurs sont moins régulières que celles que tu as montré hier, mais ton image montre le biotope très hostile dans lequel l'espèce parvient à se développer. Très intéressant.

This flowers are so beauty!
I like the color harmony achieved here, with the contrast of the flower's whites, green leafs and the warm tones of the rocks.
So interesting the way it grows on the rock's spaces to survive.
