Lanius meridionalis
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Southern Grey Shrike (Lanius meridionalis ssp. aucheri) in the lower Jordan Valley. The Jordan Valley is the northernmost tip of the distribution of this subspecies. From there the distribution extends along the West coast of the Red Sea to Arabian Peninsula and southern Iran.
The bird catches large insects and especially small rodents from the ground. A shower of rain had just passed before I took the photo and you can tell from the plumage it had just dived after a prey in the wet grass.

Hello Pentti,
This is a very nice little fellow that you capture with nice details, colors, exposure and POV. I like the little light in its eye and this beautiful plain back ground. This is a beautiful specie. Thanks,
Claudine
