These are the red ripe fruit of Arbutus andrachne [Ericaceae], just ready now for the Holidays! They are edible fresh or in jams. Each berry is about 1 cm in diameter. Arbutus trees like marl, and as such are good indicators for finding wild orchids.
I had to use flash here to capture the fruit against the blue sky of the shortest day of the year, yesterday December 22.
