The Eastern Steppe Festoon (Allancastria deyrollei) is a butterfly that can be found only in the countries of East Mediterranean sea (from Turkey to Israel until Iraq and Iran). Its distribution in Israel is the east mountains of the Mediterranean region from March to April.
The female is darker than the male.

Wing span: 55 m"m.
Host plants: Birthwort - only Aristolochia sp.

great picture of this rarely presented and beautiful species.
In the last days, its other mediterranean relatives cerisyi, rumina and polyxena have been shown at TN.
You completed the series with a professionally sharp and well focused picture of deyrollei.
