[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Orchis sancta (Holy Orchid) is an east Mediterranean species that grows both in Israel, Syria, Jordan, Cyprus and Turkey. In Israel it is rather rare. Blooms in April/May after most other local orchids are long gone.

I must admit I was surprised to see a few pairs of this beautiful orchid down in the spot of woods by my house.

Hi David,

Good photo of this orchid! I like the way you used the light rendering nice natural colors. Very nice contrast between the granat redish flowers and the light green leaves not to mention the green insect. Good DOF showing great details of the flowers.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

beautiful pic, saw it in Mt Carmel last week, dash Ori

En Israel hay otros sitios bíblicos con el mismo nombre: en la Region del Sharon (Rosh HaAyin), en el Valle de Jezreel (área de Gilboa), y en el Golan (en la frontera con Siria, el este del Mar del Kineret)

I was looking at the area of this image...I did some work for a Kibutz near Tel Aviv....about 25 years ago. My how time flies.....I still have my flag and my Army Shirt from there.....very nicely done...Keep on with the good side of life..to life yes?!
Shalom
