The Fire Bug (Pyrrhocoris apterus) is a common bug in Israel. Its an Euro-Siberian species.
It can be found all over the Mediterranean region in Israel in high densities. It feeds of fruit juice and dead insect haemolymph.
Length: about 10 m"m.

Hello Oz,

Very good capture of this fire bug. Excellent POV, DOF and focus. Very good light and colours. We have already a lot of these bugs here too. It is very a good year for the insects I think.

Once more time I have to say that your macro pictures of insects are very good, this one is no exception. Beautiful capture :)
Anyway, I had no idea that this wingless species - very common in Poland - is known also from Israel.
