Pollination
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| A flower of Salvia hierosolymitana (Labiatae), the Jerusalem Sage, is pollinated by a bee. The anthers are “hugging” the back of the bee, after it has activated their bending mechanism, as the bee is pushing in its head to collect nectar. The style is barely touching the wing at this point. Older styles will be more bent, and touch the back of the bee, to be pollinated by pollen collected from another flower. |

Hi Ishi
Great action shot, caught just at the right moment to show the pollination mechanism of the Salvia. Good detail, depth of field and sharpness.
Regards
Steve
