Large flocks of the White Stork (Ciconia ciconia) pass Israel in the spring from Africa to Europe, where they breed, and in the fall from Europe to Africa, where they winter.
This one is a member of a flock we saw yesterday from Mt. Avital in the northern Golan Heights, where we were looking for wild flowers. The storks where performing lovely aerobatics. This is one, gliding at about 200 m above ground, is slowing down getting ready to land. |
