Palestine Sunbird - Nectarinia osea
11-12 c"m long , found all over the country.
Feeds on insects and nectar.
Can be found in dry savana like areas but also in urban areas where there are green parks with nectar rich flowers.
A very lively bird, bouncing it's tail up and down very fast, flight is fast and jumpy.
Delicate pointed bent down black beak.
The male is all black and with adequate lighting shines in blue and purple.
The female is brownish grew from above and white - gray from below.
The picture was taken in my garden - and i'm still trying to catch the bird "in flight"- a very difficult task i must add...
Shot with Nikon D-70, Raw, shutter priority - 1/800, f/10, spot metering , Iso 800, Auto WB, Optimize image: sharp

Hermoso colibrí y muy bien capturado por tu cámara.
Excelente agudeza con maravillosos colores.
Atinado DOF con agradable presentacion.

Beautiful humming bird and captured very well by your camera.
Excellent sharpness with wonderful colors.
Accurate DOF with pleasant presentation.

The feather colours here are superb, the head and the flower it is about to feed on is very well seen, the only thing that stops it being perfect is the OOF leaf in the forground that obsures the tail.

Very good Ido.
Nice colours, good details and DOF.
Pity about the blur on the tail.
Good note.
Very well done.

Great shot except of the missing part of the tails.
Well done.

Very good shot Ido. Pity about the blur on the tail otherwise perfect. Well done.

In a perfect world there would never be any leaves, trees, flowers, branches etc. to work around when photographing a great looking bird like this, but since we don't live in that perfect world this image is just perfect to me. Gorgeous colors on both the bird and the surroundings.

Great shot Ido, it's a shame that the tail was lost but apart from that it's a great photo with good colours and details. Well done.

I like this shot and you did well in capturing the color on the bird. I find it difficult to get sharp focus on these birds due to the texture of the feathers.

Well done and thanks for posting

Hi Ido
I think you did a nice job on its plumage, the irridescence is very difficult to expose correctly.
I would crop some around the birdie to get a better compo, but that is personal taste!
