Description
This is a crop from a bigger image of this beautiful Orchid that flowers in Israel in February-April.

O. galilaea grows in Israel Syria and Lebanon. Each individual flower resembles a (male) clown.

Unlike most plants the first flowers open from the top of the plant and the lowest ones open last.

Most (90%) of the pollination is done by male bees of Lasioglossum marginatus that are most likely attracted to the flowers by smell.

great detail in the flowers. The colours are great - it reminds me of some of 'green' orchids we get in the UK, but when I looked up your ID, I didn't find any hits on google at all... shame I would have like to know more about it.

Nice close-up. Image is sharp and well exposed. The soft light looks beautifull, and render excellents details all over. The dark and blured BG really put emphasis in the plant.
