Salsola is a large genus of mainly desert species. The leaves are very small, thus losing little water. The flowers are tiny, greenish and wind pollinated. In this pic u can see the fruits which are flower-like in shape, wind dispersed by their wings.

Very interesting as I photographed these beautiful seeds on Lanzarote recently and I didn't know the name of the plant! They obviously don't need much water! Your shot is an excellent illustration, very sharp in the lovely light. Very nice composition too.
