[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Arabian Oryx (Oryx leucoryx) one of the world rarest animals that made it to the most extreme and harsh climatic deserts of the Earth in the Arabian peninsula could became extinct in the wild due to overhunting and was entirelly wiped out but by 1970 but thanks to conservationist repopulating efforts, many hundreds were released in the wild and made it just fine. However, since 1996 aproximatelly 25% were killed by motorised poachers and bedouins...
Entire population in the wild was reconstituted from animal parks and reserves from USA and Europe ... For example in Texas they are raised in exotic game ranches and offered for sport ... ironically they seem to find Texas and Arizona hunting ranches a viable alternative for continuation ... back in their homelands, in Jordan, a unique place, the Shaumari Reserve was created in 1975 by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature as a breeding center for endangered or locally extinct wildlife has breed them very succesfully .

On thumbnail I though there is a skeleton on your picture :-) I like composition.

Now that really is a harsh barren enviroment to live in.

Radu, It's an interesting title/theme for your shot. I didn't know they were raised here in Texas, thanx! You have dramatized your "isolation" of the Oryx by isolating it in the frame...Maybe too isolated? Just my humble opinion! Thanx for posting!

Hi Radu
This is the type of picture I really like, with the subject on a firth and NOT on a third. Espesially the desert type landscapes and their denizens work very well with this compo. Well done, I like it a lot. Whites just a tad hot.

Superb compo, showing the "deserted" theme very nicely. Great shot. Well done.

Beautiful shot and the image is very well supported by your heading. Maybe a little widely cropped - little tighter would still have conveyed the message of Isolation and give a bit more detail on the Oryx. I probably say this as I have never seen one of these guys before and cannot quite make it out in this shot.
