You have s solid shot, but the sun has washed out the colors and added shadows masking some detail.
Camera Settings: Consider using a polarizing filter when shooting in direct sunlight. Also by setting the camera exposure value (EV) down you can underexpose the shot giving you more lattitude in processing the shot late. Another thing while shooting you can go into shutter mode, decrease the amount of light taken in and gain some control.
Image Editing: There are several things you can do with the right editor program. If you are shooting in RAW mode, consider adjusting the exposure, in this case decreasing the value prior to editing. Once in a regular editing program you can reference the mod I did to see some effects that can be achieved.
