Canidae - Vulpus vulpus palaestina
This Red Fox is one of the permanent pensioners at an animal shelter and awareness center called Animal Encounter located near Aley. It was brought in injured and like all the other permanent residents of the shelter, it is no longer in any condition to return to the wild.
General info:
* weight: 9-13Kg ; lenght: 50-65cm
* Caracterised by a white spot at the tip of its tail.
Active during the day, but mostly nocturnal.
* Dwells in forests, bushy areas, open areas and valleys.
* Feeds on rodents, hares, birds, grasses and various vegetable matter.
* The female delivers 4-6 puppies at the end of April, the pups stay with their mother till the end of their first year. |
