Araceae (aka Arum or Philondredon family)
Arisarum sp.
Photo was taken in Tyre Coast Nature Reserve (TCNR) in a sand dune habitat, 100m away from the sea, max 5m above sea level; quite abundant, spread in a bed-like manner.
Photo conveys approx. actual size (infloresence = 5-6cm)
I don't know much about this family of plants. However I can tell you that this particular species seems to survive in a variety of conditions, I saw it in North Lebanon, Kelhat village (~800m above sea level), flowering in December, though not as abundant as in TCNR.
More info about arums can be found at : www.aroid.org/ |

Hi Betty,
wow, this is beautiful, I've never seen such a plant. The colours and forms are wonderful, thanks for sharing, I like it, bye

Very nice, I love the light in the plant. I would cut the upper burnt part of the picture. The species is arisarum vulgare. Good for you. Ori
Hi Betty
Extraordinary plant, but so is a lot of plants in the arum family. Looks like something that comes out of the ET movie.
I agree with Ori about the upper burnt part. I have prepared a workshop with that in mind, hope you like it.
Your composition is good, colours are good, and the exposure was well handled. Nice details accomplished through DOF and taken the close proximity of the other dune vegetation you've achieved a good BG.
Well done and TFS.
Regards
