I took this picture of the small local honey bees this morning in the little patch of greenery we have in the school campus too.
The gardener had just watered the place and left the water pipe resting on the head of a broom. I noticed a number of these honey bees drinking the left over drops of water at the mouth of the pipe and almost fighting with each other for it. It has started getting hot here and even bees need some water to quench their thirst.

Converted from RAW to JPEG, cropped to retain only two bees in focus and resized for TN. No other PP work at all.

Good Morning Ram - though afternoon for you!

Lovely shot of the bees. I think having one in focus (beautifully) and the other out, conveys the sense of melee in the title. Also like the lighting here very much.

James

Bonjour,
Décidemment, toutes les abeilles du monde se mettent au travail !
Bonne journée.

A tremendous shot. Love the detail of the wings.

The camera and lens really compliment one another.

Hi Ram,

Wonderful macro of the bees. You have shown every detail of the insects.

Jane

bonjour ram
dans la mesure ou une des deux abeilles n'est pas dans la zone de focalisation il aurait peu etre fallut couper la photo pour ne garder que celle du bas ou fermer plus le diaphragme, enfin cen'est que mon avis.

Hello Ram,
To be, or not to Bee: That is the question :)
Your flash has helped to bring out some nice sharp detail. If I might? Two cents worth you know ;)
I rarely shoot an insect at ISO 100 because I can never get enough DOF..My post today is @ ISO 500..Even so, I could've used more DOF.
Well done mf.

Hi Ram, wonderful composition with two lovely bees, splendid colors, great details, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hello Ram,
Excellent details and exposition. I guess bees have really hard work to do under the southern sun on Arabian Peninsula. You also did a good job in saving good details under such a strong light.
Best greetings,
Michal

Hi Ram.
Very interesting close-up. The reproduction of the nearest bee is great. All features of the shot is very good too. I think you can use ISO 400. You have excellent camera with in-built noise redactor. In this case you may increase the DOF up 2 stops. I personally often apply such ISO and feel more freely selecting exposure parameters. My compliments and best wishes.
Alexei.

Hello Ram,

Thanks for your critique, really can't wait till I get a proper chance to use the new lens!

This bee shot was well spotted and a great opportunity for you. The bee on the left is incredibly sharp and jumps out the screen at you, the one on the right less so but gives a nice contrast to our subject.

Regards
Simon

p.s how do you get you Exif data to be able to copy and paste? I can't seem to do it, only have CS2 and not NX.

bonjour RAM
impressionnant de voir ces deux abeilles en même temps, j' adore voir les ailes transparentes
bravo, meri amitiès
