Shooting insects in flight is much difficult job than shooting birds in flight , it looks like you are going Ersin's way ( Shooting insects in flight). Wonderful attempt and great shot!

It is interesting that you could catch the hover fly hovering around. It is difficult to get macros of moving objects. Good picture.

Another great shot of this little hoverfly!
Definitely sharper that the other one, with more motion freeze, but what i would be interested in here is the metering mode. It might be because of that that the BG came out so dark, not necessary the shutter speed.
Anyway, i really like the "theme" you integrated it - with a lovely parallel with a space shuttle.
The colors are also terrific and the composition very nice.

Hmm.....I would say your previous shot was much better than this. This one came a bit under exposed(as Horia has mentioned in critiques of last post) coz of 1/1000shutter speed.But coz of flash it has got a different tone, like you said, a odyssey look.Note is excellant as usual.

Good sharpness on the hoverfly! And i love the blackground coz it makes the hoverfly stand out so much..
