[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
BLACK SPIDER

Here is a fresh picture from my "Home Zoo".
But first the story. Without a story, my photographic ventures here in Riyadh are like a dish without salt in it.
On 5th June when my internet connection had deserted me, I was at my study table, playing Spider Solitaire on my laptop. When you are idle and have no TN to get glued to, Spider Solitaire comes in handy :-).

Please note that it is terribly hot here these days and whatever creatures we have like to come out of their hiding places and move about in search of fresh air. As of now, I have a whole lot of very small ants all over the house, forcing their way into every item of food they can lay their "hands" on.

To come back to the story, while I was busy playing the game, I somehow noticed a tiny black dot creeping across the wooden shelf attached to my study table. On second look, I realized that it was a spider.
What a coincidence! Here I am playing Spider Solitaire and what comes out into my line of vision is a real spider!
That famous Greek scientist must not have said "Eureka!" more enthusiastically than I did as I made a dash for my camera. Now that I have a macro lens, I am more than thrilled to have an opportunity to try it on anything small that moves.

Anyway, the little spider got scared of the illuminating light emitting from my camera and tried to get away as quickly as possible. But for a creature his size, even a 14 inches long wooden wall is like walking acoss Prairies in America! So I made quite a few macro shots while it scampered back into the safety of his private domain behind the shelf.

Here is one of those pictures. I know it is not an ideal set up to take "nature" pictures, but then, that is a rule rather than an exception in my case :-).

I guess it is a Jumping Spider again, just about 5mm in size. Anyway, specialists are always in great demand for most of my pictures, so any help in the ID of this little creature would be gratefully acknowledged.

I know the quality of this picture is not up to the mark, so please bear with me.

TFL and regards to all.

Hi Ram,
a great shot of this spider.
Sharp and well composed.
Also the note is fantastic.
Well done,
Joey

I think more than a reluctant visitor, I would be a reluctant host! ...and certainly synchronicity as opposed coincidence eh? I find it odd that Windows/Outlook etal do not understand the word synchronicity. Also interesting....

Seems like a good quality to me, however I have never been known as a perfectionist. There is something anachronistic about the background which adds some human touch to an otherwise pure specimen of nature...

Very nice my friend. Your stories are always appreciated, via your notes.

Ha,ha! What a funny story! I would have also cryed at seeing it, but in terror!
Seen like that it looks like a terrific big tarantula. Brrr!
Magnificent macro, Ram! I like its pose, it looks very aware of you and even ready to counterattack.
Congratulations and TFS
Greetings
