BEE ON BLUE FLOWER

There is an ancient date palm tree in one corner of our compound. It has long stopped producing dates. The other day I happened to look up its tall frame and espied an old honeycomb under one of its long old fronds. I noticed some bees on it, but they were so motionless I thought they were not alive.
So promptly I went for my camera with 70-300mm on it, zoomed in on the comb and noticed that the bees were very much alive, though moving around on it a bit listlessly. I took a couple of shots of that honeycomb and might show one of them here one day.

This bee on a blue flower I shot last month seems to belong to that bee family. This is the only species I have seen here except for an occasional Solitary bee I had noticed last year.
The weather has warmed up here with temprature hovering just above 30 degree Celcius. This morning I noticed a golden dragonfly alight on a fence and then take off at high speed, disappearing above the neighbourhood buildings. I am happy the signs of some life are returning.
I had 70-300mm mounted on the camera when I saw this bee on a blue flower. I took this shot with it but I am not happy about it.

Hello Ram,
I assume you are not happy about this shot because it is a little soft. Other wise this is a fine colourful composition with the bee showing well on the flower. The flash has exposed the bee to the right degree and darkened the BG without giving the nocturnal feeling.
TFS and nice to here that thing are beginning to stir in your compound: hopefully you'll have enough to keep you going to while the extra time away before you return home.

I think this is a well composed and punchy shot only let down by a slight softness in the details. The colours are amazing and your background perfect, did you put a board up to get this black background or is it natural? Nice specimen I love the stripes along his back.

Hello Ram,
These blues in your photos are really very attractive. This is another case in point where the color almost steals the show :). I don't know what makes you unhappy about it but composition is very good. It may not be sufficiently sharpened during PP as one should do with D200, or perhaps it's the 200-KB jpeg limitation? Hard to tell just from the screen.
