Trachylepis aurata (Linnaeus, 1758) (Golden Skink) [in Turk. Tıknaz Kertenkele]

General Features: back area usually gray or greenish brown color. The dark spots in the strip and head to the tail portion extending from a line light is available. The back side of your body than you are big and dark spots. Abdominal region is whitish. In general, insect and spider species are fed by. To the nearest crevice and crack are scared enter. In early summer are the mating. These animals produced by the work they do breed (ovovivipar). However, procreation is not like in mammals. 4-8 at a time of the female calf is born. A cleft in the rocks and hollows of the calf in the purse will drop. Height can be up to 20 cm.

Habitat: Plants with low sand, gravel, stony places, are found in the ruins. More stones are hidden underneath. 0-1200 m in height between the experience in places.

Genel Özellikler: Sırt bölgesinin renkleri genel olarak gri ya da yeşilimsi kahverengi. Enine şeritler halinde koyu renkli benekleri ve baş kısmından kuyruğa doğru uzanan açık renkli bir çizgi bulunur. Vücudun yan tarafı sırttakilere göre daha büyük ve koyu benekler bulunur. Karın bölgesi beyazımsıdır. Genel olarak böcek ve örümcek türleriyle beslenirler. Korkutulduklarında en yakındaki yarık ve çatlaklara girerler. Yaz başlarında çiftleşirler. Bu hayvanlar üreme işlerini doğurarak yaparlar (ovovivipar). Ancak doğurma memelilerdeki gibi olmaz.
Yavru anne karnında bir kese içinde gelişir (plasenta yok) ve dışarıya öyle bırakılır. Dişiler bir defada 4-8 yavru doğururlar. Yavrularını kayalıklardaki oyuklar ve yarıklara bir kese içinde bırakırlar. Boyları 20 cm kadar olabilir.

Habitat: Bitkisi az olan kumluk, çakıllık, taşlık yerlerde, harabelerde bulunurlar. Daha çok taşların altına gizlenirler. Yüksekliği 0-1200 m arasında olan yerlerde yaşarlar.

Türkiye'deki Dağılım: Ege ve Akdeniz kıyılarından iç kesimlere kadar, İç Anadolu'nun batısı ve güneyinde habitatın uygun olduğu yerlerde dağılım gösterirler. (www.biltek.tubitak.gov.tr)

A great image of a fine specimen with beautiful scales, skin textures and colours. The details of the thickish neck are nicely emphasized here, against the natural background. It looks as if this guy was peeping at you and I also like the way its head is turned slightly upwards catching that special light in the eye.
