[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Carduelis cannabina (or Acanthis cannabina, TR Ketenkuşu, En. Linnet, Da. Tornirisk, Du. Kneu, Fi. Hemppo, Fr. Linotte mélodieuse, Ge. Bluthänfling, It. Fanello, No. Tornirisk, Sp. Pardillo común, Sw. Hämpling):

This small water source was the watering area the birds around. I stayed in brushes and wait only to take photos of birds come there. The previous photo was again in the same point.

In summer plumage, the male Linnet has a powder-blue head, a red forehead and a rich reddish-brown back. In all other plumages though, the red disappears and the other colours are more subdued though still faintly discernible. Key features though are the white edges to some feathers which create white panels in the primaries and at the base of the tail. The only other bird to show this pattern is the Twite, but the Linnet also has a greyer head, patterned throat and dark bill. In flight, the Linnet shows a series of white lines along the primaries, again matched only by Twite.

Hi Mustafa,
I can safely say that you know the names of birds in a lot of languages. But, more to the point, you show us a very nice portrait of the Ketenkuşu indeed! It is rare for us to see it near the water and that close. Beautiful! Thanks for the detailed note, too.

This is a new bird for me but you have portrayed the details of its plummage so well that I feel I could recognise it in the field now!
